Raymond L Benza, USA
Dr. Raymond L. Benza, MD, FACC, FAHA, FACP, FCCP, is Professor and Section Head of Cardiology at Eastern Virginia Medical School, part of Macon and Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University. He also serves as the George M. and Linda H. Kaufman Academic Chair of Cardiology at Sentara Health, becoming the first physician to hold this distinguished appointment. Dr. Benza is an internationally recognized leader in advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support.
Previously, Dr. Benza held senior academic and clinical leadership roles at Mount Sinai Health System, The Ohio State University, Temple University School of Medicine, and Allegheny Health Network, where he served as the James Magovern Chair of Cardiovascular Research and Director of Cardiovascular Research. Throughout his career, he has built and led nationally acclaimed cardiovascular programs and has played a pivotal role in advancing translational research and cardiology education.
